The gauge of a Nain is measured in “La” based on the thickness of the ground thread (warp). There are 4La, 6La, 9La and 12La. The lower the number, the finer the carpet. A 4La Nain is very rare and has more than 1 million knots per square meter. Silk is incorporated in some examples, which increases the value considerably.
